The Maughan* Library is on the right-hand side as you walk up Chancery Lane from Fleet Street. In order to gain access, you will need your King’s ID card. You will then find the Meet & Greet point straight ahead as you enter. Staff can be recognised by their purple lanyards.

Where is book in Maughan Library?
These can be found on the Ground Floor near the Meet & Greet Point, the first and second floor lift lobbies or in the Short Loan area (G. 49). You’ll need to scan the barcode on your King’s ID card on the Self-Service Kiosks to borrow a book.
Can UCL students go to Maughan library?
All UCL students and staff can now apply directly to the British Library for reference access upon production of a full, valid UCL ID card, a further form of identification (eg. Driving License, passport), confirmation of home address (eg. utility bill, council tax bill) and proof of signature (eg. bank card).
Can alumni use Maughan library?
(Update April 2022) There is currently no option for Alumni to apply for paid subscription (library borrowing account and ID card) as we are moving to online payments and a new subscription registration process will be introduced in the coming months.
How do I borrow books from the Kings Library?
You will need your KCL ID card to borrow any item from the library. All King’s reservations are held on the self-service reservation shelf near to the Library Information Point at each library (except for the Maughan library where reservations are stored in room G.
Can Queen Mary students use UCL Library?
students and staff can apply for borrowing access from QMW library under the SCONUL Access Band ‘A’ scheme upon production of a passport sized photograph, full valid UCL ID and a SCONUL Access Band ‘A’ card (obtained through UCL library).
Can the public use UCL library?
Qualifying UCL alumni and visitors can use UCL libraries, but must complete an online registration form before visiting.
